Busy Summer of coaching at Pres Inc

“LIFT THE ICE”

One thing that thrills us at Pres Inc is working with such a variety of impressive people from the world of media and beyond. During the heatwave over here in the UK, we did a fascinating training session with a climate change scientist based in her native Alaska called Darcy Peter for her upcoming stint as a ‘super contrib’ fronting a documentary for the Discovery Channel in the States called “Lift the Ice”.

Wishing I was in Alaska during the UK’s heatwave!

Darcy had never been in front of camera hosting her own TV show before, despite having chalked up an impressive raft of presentations within the science community and for her students - this was totally out of her comfort zone. Plus for us, coaching up an indigenous Gwich’in Athabascan scientist from a town called Beaver in Alaska…we also had to feel our way! But Darcy was whip smart and keen to learn the ropes of being in front of camera; we talked her through owning her space so that she could confidently offer her unique perspective whilst having a good rapport with the lens, how to lead the viewer through the narrative whilst prizing out the gems they were to discover on the shoot and translating the whole experience and bringing it to life for the documentary.

She made great strides with the drills we set her in our one-on-one session to own her unique perspective of what it’s like to adapt and live through changing conditions at the Ground Zero of climate change. We were proud to be part of her on camera prep work so that she could go on and make a striking impact on such an important issue.
